A spirited but refined performance…balanced, intelligent, heartfelt and full bodied performances that left no doubt of the performers’ abilities. – Boston Herald
Since 1982, extraordinary chamber music concerts performed by Music at Eden’s Edge (MEE) have delighted audiences by combining great music with the magic, serenity and beauty of the North Shore. As an established part of the cultural scene, MEE has brought music to schoolchildren, seniors and thousands of concertgoers in hundreds of different musical programs and performances. Recognized and respected for its high musical standards and community presence within and also outside the concert hall, Music at Eden’s Edge is realizing the vision of a musical regional residency for the North Shore, in which great music, performers and people connect in a shared experience both delightful and also profound.
MEE’s mission is to perform chamber music of the highest caliber for the broadest possible audiences; to commission and perform new works; and to foster appreciation and understanding of classical music through live professional programs in accessible and intimate concert settings, emphasizing artist-to-audience contact, education and community outreach.
Difficult, daring and beautifully performed
Each year MEE serves over 5,000 listeners in its various venues and musical events, for all from the seasoned concertgoer to the first-time listener, through two performance platforms: the Summer Chamber Music Concert Series, offering eight varied concerts in attractive North Shore locations each season; and Music in Our Community, an outreach umbrella that encompasses a variety of FREE musical offerings:
- Senior/Family Series for Seniors
- Youth Chamber Concerts for public elementary school children, most of whom are in underserved communities
- Really Open Rehearsals, Peabody Institute Library Concerts and Close Encounters with Music Lecture/Performances for the adult concert-going public eager to learn about and connect with music.
MEE commissions and programs new works to foster the work of composers in our times through New Music at the Edge. In addition, MEE brings along the next generation of young musical artists with an annual Emerging Artist at the Edge.
