Since 2008, MEE has brought to our audiences young and aspiring chamber music performers through the Emerging Artists at the Edge initiative, a mentoring program for gifted young professionals in which training and experience in music are handed down one-on-one, experienced artist to new artist. This year, we are proud to introduce Cellist Jacques Lee Wood, our 2013 Emerging Artist at the Edge, who will perform in our August program, Heartily August.Combining a dynamic and expressive style with intelligence and sensitivity, Mr. Wood is gaining attention as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician of the highest caliber. A versatile artist, Wood’s interest in teaching and research supplements an active performance career that covers a broad range of repertoire and interests from historically informed performance of the Baroque, Classic and Romantic periods to newly composed works.
A top prizewinner at the ARTS Competition and the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, Mr. Wood most recently performed the Elgar Cello Concerto with the Seoul National Orchestra, the Schumann Cello Concerto with the Ureuk Symphony at Merkin Hall in New York, and the Haydn C major Cello Concerto with the American Baroque Orchestra.
