New Music at the Edge
Introducing New Music at the Edge
Music at Eden’s Edge has long been committed to commissioning and presenting new music. This year, we are launching a more official version of our commitment: New Music at the Edge.
This year, we have commissioned two of our favorite composers to write music for the Music at Eden’s Edge’s Summer Concert Series.
Howard Rovics’ music is familiar to our audiences from two intensely moving past premieres, Reflections and Journey, a Seagoing Narrative. For 2008, he has chosen as his inspiration the poetry of the late Gloucester poet Vincent Ferrini. His new composition, Listening to the Sea Winds, will be the centerpiece of our At the Edge of July’s Garden program.
Music at Eden’s Edge violist and composer Mark Berger has written Upon a Wheel of Cloud to be premiered by Cello e Basso and himself in late August on The French-American Connection program. Mark’s Landscape and String Trios No. 1 and 2 (the 2007 MEE commission) have beguiled, challenged and intrigued our audiences and artists alike.
